Now available: the Kilburn III portable speaker from Marshall with power bank function

Rotary knobs and toggle switches have become rare for controlling technical devices. But this is exactly what Marshall is focussing on. This sets the Kilburn III Bluetooth speaker apart from other devices with similar functionality.
It looks like a handbag, but is actually a portable speaker with an integrated power bank for your mobile devices. As with other devices, the manufacturer Marshall has given the Kilburn III a retro look with large buttons and switches for operation. The leather-like textured surface and the chunky front grille also contribute to this.

The speaker is also available in beige, but this version is not yet available. They are expected to be available at the end of June.
Sound characteristics: even and room-filling
According to the manufacturer, the Kilburn III offers a powerful, balanced sound. Using «True Stereophonic 360°» technology, you should get room-filling stereo sound without acoustic blind spots. The Kilburn III uses a 30-watt Class D amplifier for the bass speaker and two ten-watt Class D amplifiers for the full-range speakers. The dynamic volume control ensures that bass, mid-range and treble remain clear and harmonious at any volume - at least that's what Marshall promises.
Retro controls for a modern speaker
Use the rotary knobs on the top to adjust the volume, bass and treble. Other buttons are used to switch on, pause, resume and skip tracks. An additional button allows you to access preset presets.
However, behind the retro controls lies modern technology. The speaker comes with Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity and a maximum range of ten metres. Multipoint Connection is also on board, allowing you to connect multiple Bluetooth sources and easily switch between them. The Kilburn III supports the SBC, KC3 and MPEG-2 AAC codecs. Unfortunately, the better aptX codec is not included. Thanks to the 3.5-millimetre jack connection, you can also connect your device to the speaker via cable.
Long playback time and robust housing
Marshall does not specify the battery capacity. It should last for 50 hours of playback time. With the 30-watt quick charge function, you can give the device a further eight hours of playback by charging it for 20 minutes. You can also use the battery to charge your other devices.
With IP54 certification, the Kilburn III is dust and water resistant. According to the manufacturer, the speaker can withstand a little dirt and splash water. This also makes it suitable for beach parties. The device measures around 27 × 15 × 17 centimetres and weighs 2.8 kilograms.
