The wireless headset combines hi-res audio with the function of mixing up to four audio sources simultaneously. A dual battery system allows the battery to be changed during operation.

With the Arctis Nova Pro Omni, Steelseries is launching a new generation of its Arctis Nova Pro wireless over-ear headset onto the market. According to the manufacturer, it is aimed at gamers with high demands on sound. The Arctis Nova Pro Omni is cross-platform compatible with PC, Playstation, Xbox and Switch as well as with mobile devices via Bluetooth. The previous version was offered as a separate Xbox or Playstation version.

The headset is available in black, white and dark blue.

According to the manufacturer, the Arctis Nova Pro Omni is certified for the Hi-Res standard of the Japanese Audio Society (JAS) for wireless transmissions. At its technical heart are 40-millimetre neodymium magnet drivers that cover an extended frequency range of 10 Hz to 40 KHz. Audio is transmitted either via a 2.4 GHz wireless connection or Bluetooth with a quality of up to 96 kHz at 24 bit.

Connect multiple sources and mix them together

The headset comes with a base station called Gamehub. You can connect up to three devices to it via USB-C. You can connect a fourth source via Bluetooth. A line-in input is also available as an option.

According to Steelseries, you can simultaneously listen to and mix signals from two USB-C and one line-in device as well as your Bluetooth source. You can control the volume separately via the app or via a physical control wheel on the Gamehub. The station also has an OLED display on which you can control and adjust settings.

Replaceable batteries and ANC

When the battery is running low, you would normally have to connect the headset to the cable. The Arctis Nova Pro Omni does not have a permanently installed battery, but one that you can change during operation. Steelseries raves about «infinite energy»: you can always use one battery and charge another at the same time.

The active noise cancelling (ANC) largely blocks out ambient noise. While the predecessor still worked bidirectionally, the new version uses an omnidirectional directional characteristic. The microphone also uses AI to minimise background noise so that the person you are talking to can hear your voice clearly.

The microphone can also be switched on and off for different sources. For example, if you take a call on your connected smartphone, the microphone automatically switches to your call.
