Do you like to track your activity in a minimalist way or would you prefer a smart sports/everyday hybrid? We now have two new fitness watches from Polar.
With us, you can now get two new fitness trackers from Polar. The Polar Loop (Gen. 2) is a minimalist health tracker without a display, while the Polar Street X is positioned as an everyday all-rounder watch.
Passive tracker: Polar Loop (Gen. 2)
If you simply want to track your fitness data, the Polar Loop could be of interest to you. This wristband with sensor continuously tracks your heart rate, activity and sleep. No plan is required for this. You can view the measured values and their analyses in the Polar Flow app on your smartphone.
In addition to the recorded values, the app also displays information on activity levels, recovery and physiological reactions to movement and training. With a stated water resistance of WR30, the device can withstand 30 metres of water column (three bar). So you can wear it while showering and swimming.
According to the manufacturer, the Polar Loop automatically recognises training sessions as soon as it detects a higher heart rate and more activity. It then starts recording automatically. To synchronise data with your mobile, the two devices must be connected via Bluetooth. According to the manufacturer, the battery should supply the sensor with energy for up to eight days if you are not exercising.
The bracelet is 27 millimetres wide and weighs 29 grammes including the sensor. The Polar Loop is available in black, beige and brown.
In addition to recording your values, the Polar Loop does not offer any smart functions such as notifications or alarms. If you want more features, the Polar Street X might be more for you.
Sport-smart hybrid: Polar Street X
The Polar Street X multisport smartwatch with GPS and 1.28-inch AMOLED touchscreen is aimed at active city dwellers, according to Polar. The tracking functions focus on gym training, jogging and everyday activities. Smart functions as well as a side LED torch including red light and route guidance make the watch a smartwatch for everyday use.
The Polar Street X is available in black, white and green.
The watch records your physical data around the clock - including your heart rate, steps and sleep. According to the manufacturer, the watch also supports the tracking of more than 170 sports. Comprehensive analyses are available in the Polar Flow app. The software can also compile training plans for you on request. When swimming, the Polar Street X can differentiate between freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke and assess your performance, Polar promises.
You operate the watch via the touchscreen or with the buttons on the side of the frame. According to the manufacturer, the smartwatch lasts up to 43 hours with training mode switched on and up to ten days in pure smartwatch mode without training. With WR50, the Polar Street X can withstand a water pressure of five bar (50 metres water column). The Polar Street X weighs 48 grammes including the wristband.
If you want to compare your data with friends or back it up in the cloud, you will need a paid plan.
