New "Star Wars" game from the "Uncharted" maker
It didn't work out with EA. Now, renowned screenwriter and creative director Amy Hennig is trying to develop a "Star Wars" game with her own studio.
Skydance New Media is working with Lucasfilm Games on a new "Star Wars" game. There are practically no details, except that it will be "a cinematic action adventure with an original story set in the legendary Star Wars galaxy". The news is particularly exciting because of one person: Amy Hennig.
Hennig is the president of Skydance New Media. She made her name as game director for Naughty Dog's "Uncharted" series. The story about the adventurous treasure hunter Nathan Drake sprang from her imagination. The hype was accordingly great when she moved to EA and Visceral Games in 2014 to work on a "Star Wars" game. Unfortunately, nothing came of Project Ragtag. EA dissolved Visceral Games three years later and the game died with the studio. Now Hennig is starting a new attempt with her own studio. She is supported by a team of many veterans like Julian Beak, who have all worked on AAA games before. The studio has already announced a game in partnership with Marvel at the end of 2021. A release date is missing for both projects.
Hennig's studio isn't the only one working on new "Star Wars" titles. Ubisoft is planning an open-world game, Respawn is developing three titles at the same time, and Quantinc Dream has already shown a trailer for "Star Wars: Eclipse".
