New PS Vita? No, replaceable SSDs for the PS5!

A patent application suggested that Sony is working on a new console that will use games in plug-in module form. Removable SSDs are more likely. After various leaks about the Playstation 5, the Japanese company is once again making a name for itself.
Update from 13/11/19, 10:00 am:
As BGR reports, a render of the patent application images suggests that it is not a game cartridge for a new Sony handheld, but rather replaceable SSD cartridges for the upcoming Playstation 5. This information is also only speculation and should therefore be treated with caution.
Article from 12.11.19, 11:00 am:
Sony is stirring up the advertising drum and giving Playstation 4 users every reason to switch to the new console next year. While the marketing focus is on the tech giant's fifth console generation, the creative minds behind the scenes may be working on another console. A corresponding patent application gives handheld console fans hope and dreams.
A new portable console?
The same site, which discovered a patent application for the possible design of the new Playstation 5 a few weeks ago, came across a plug-in module from Sony that is to be patented. The fact that the girls and boys from LetsGoDigital were already right about the look of the Playstation 5 shows that the whole thing is more than just a leak or unfounded rumour: the corresponding developer kits that were sent to the studios had the same design as the images in the patent application.

This, or rather the pictures show a plug-in module, which will probably be a game cartridge. The whole thing was submitted as a "configuration for / in data acquisition and storage devices". From the leaked specs of the Playstation 5, it can be deduced that this design does not show any media or games that will be launched next year for Sony's high-end console. It is therefore almost certainly an accessory for another console. Is Sony secretly working on a new Playstation Vita?
Yujin Morisawa fuels discussions
The senior art director of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Yujin Morisawa, is listed as the person responsible in the application to the patent office. He surrounds himself exclusively with Playstation products at Sony. This is another point that suggests that it must be a data carrier for games on a games console. Although Sony has repeatedly made it clear that they are not working on a successor to the PS Vita, these cartridges can only fit into a new, as yet unreleased system from Sony.

The fact that the patent application has been submitted to the Brazilian authorities also points to a new console. The same office already received the application for the Playstation 5, and the design also indicates that the new product will be a mobile device. The cartridge is strongly reminiscent of Gameboy games.
Is Sony working on a rival product to the recently released Nintendo Switch Lite? Or will the Playstation Vita actually get a second chance? When Sony officially unveils the new Playstation 5 in February 2020 as expected, these questions will hopefully be answered - all mobile gaming fans can already look forward to a surprise.
