LG presents bendable 45-inch OLED with 5K2K resolution

LG is showing the UltraGear 45GX990A at CES 2025. It has a 45-inch WOLED panel, a pixel density of 125 pixels per inch and can be flexibly curved.

This results in a pixel density of 125 pixels per inch (ppi) - slightly less than 4K at 32 inches (140 ppi), but a very good value for this monitor size. Thanks to the RGWB sub-pixel pattern, the text display should hardly show any colour fringing. This should make the 45GX990A ideal for high-end gaming, but also for web browsing or occasional office work.

Two further models: 45GX950A and 39GX90SA

In addition to the flexible 45GX990A, there will also be a model with an identical panel but fixed 800R curvature - the 45GX950A. It will probably be cheaper, but specific prices are not yet known.

LG's third new gaming display, the 39GX90SA, also has a 21:9 format and a fixed curvature of 800R, but a slightly smaller diagonal of 39 inches. The device runs the webOS smart TV operating system, which is a disadvantage for many due to its cumbersome operation. The resolution here is only 3440 × 1440 pixels (96 ppi pixel density), while the frame rate is 240 hertz.

Further details on LG's new monitors are expected to follow in the course of the CES in Las Vegas and will be added here as soon as possible.

Update 1 January 2025: New information on the bending mechanism of the 45GX990A, the frame rate of all three devices and the resolution of the 39GX90SA added.

My fingerprint often changes so drastically that my MacBook doesn't recognise it anymore. The reason? If I'm not clinging to a monitor or camera, I'm probably clinging to a rockface by the tips of my fingers.
