Launch your rotors - Drone Prix in Rapperswil

The Drone Champions League is coming to Switzerland for the first time this weekend. From 11 to 13 October, the Drone Prix Zürichsee will take place at Rapperswil Castle. Spectacular races and an interesting supporting programme await you.
The Drone Champions League has already been held in Brussels, Madrid and Beijing, among other places. Now the world's largest live drone racing league is coming to Switzerland for the first time. More precisely, to Rapperswil on Lake Zurich. Eight different teams will compete in their skills as drone pilots. The aim is to complete a specific course as quickly as possible with a racing drone. There are three different race modes.
Qualification race
In the qualifying race, each pilot flies their drone individually through the course. The time taken for the drone to cross the finish line counts. However, the entire team is then scored. This determines where the team is allowed to start in the final rounds.
Single Heat
In a single heat, two pilots from different teams compete against each other. They start at the same time and fly the race track together. The winner is the one who crosses the finish line first. The winner receives one point for their team.
Big Heat
The principle of the Big Heat is the same as the Single Heat. However, two teams compete against each other. So four against four. In this race mode, a total of eight drivers are on the race track at the same time and try to be the first to cross the finish line.
Rapperswil University of Applied Sciences with a special programme
During the Drone Prix, Rapperswil University of Applied Sciences will be hosting a special programme not far from the venue. On 12 and 13 October, you can experience various things at the HSR Drone Days. In addition to a drone fun park and a virtual reality flight simulator, you can also attend several lectures, workshops and panel discussions. You can find all the information here.
