Trailer Tuesday is your guide to the best trailers of the past week. This time starring failed clowns, White Walkers in Winterfell and the grand finale everyone’s been waiting for.

The new «Joker» movie shows Gotham City in the 1980s and a maniac who has become the city's most feared criminal. Bill Murray and Adam Driver go on a zombie hunt in «The Dead Don’t Die» and Hellboy is as merciless and violent as never before in the same-titled movie. On top of this, two eras are ending in April: «Avengers: Endgame» and «Game of Thrones».

Hellboy

Release date in Swiss cinemas: 11 April 2019

Game of Thrones: season 8

This is probably the last trailer of the final season of «Game of Thrones». Two relics each of the Starks, Lannisters and Targaryens lie orphaned in the snow: a hint at what happens if the White Walkers win and The Long Night breaks over Westeros again. Goosebumps guaranteed.

Start date: 14 April 2019

Avengers: Endgame

«Avengers: Endgame» is the grand finale of everything Marvel has created to date. It’s probably also the last appearance of some beloved characters, which makes the movie all the more explosive. Marvel’s trailers have never given away much. That’s good. This trailer is the most revealing in terms of storyline, although it only lasts a minute.

Release date in Swiss cinemas: 24 April 2019

The Dead Don’t Die

Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover and Tom Waits. They all play a role in this zombie apocalypse, which reminds me of «Zombieland». The story? The undead are attracted not only by the flesh of the living but also by things they used to like when they were still alive. Like tennis. Or Chardonnays.

Expected release date in Swiss cinemas: June 2019

Joker

Arthur Fleck's (Joaquin Phoenix) mother always told him to be happy and put on a friendly face. One day, the failed stand-up comedian is brutally beaten up on the streets of Gotham City. This event is the beginning of his transformation. What makes this storyline so gripping is that, like Christopher Nolan's Batman version, it plays in a tangible reality.

Release date in Swiss cinemas: 17 October 2019

I write about technology as if it were cinema, and about films as if they were real life. Between bits and blockbusters, I’m after stories that move people, not just generate clicks. And yes – sometimes I listen to film scores louder than I probably should.
