Gmail: a tick for more trust and security

The new tick marks are intended to increase email security and, according to Google, help users to distinguish between fake and genuine brand emails from companies.
Blue hooks. We are now very familiar with them on the Internet. They symbolise verified accounts. Twitter in particular has made the blue tick very popular. In the meantime, however, they have become more of a sign of shame. Nevertheless, Google has now also decided to rely on the "checkmarks" with its own verified email brand system. The full roll-out is due to take place in the next few days.
The new checkmarks will then automatically appear next to selected sender names - companies - that have already adopted Gmail's "Brand Indicators for Message Identification" (BIMI) function, which has been in place since 2021. This function required senders to use strong authentication and verify their brand logo in order to display this brand logo as an avatar in the emails. Now users will see a tick icon for these senders.
This email authentication is intended to help users and email security systems recognise spam and enable senders to strengthen their brand trust, according to Google. It is also designed to increase trust in email sources.
