E3 2019: "Vampire Bloodlines 2", "Chivalry 2" and other highlights from the PC Gaming Show
The PC Gaming Show is a press conference at E3 that is fully dedicated to the PC. Although there were fewer AAA studios there, the show was still a highlight of E3.
The PC Gaming Show took place for the fifth time under the direction of "PC Gamer" magazine. As the name suggests, it focussed on PC games. However, as most of the titles are multiplatform games, there was also something for console gamers. With over 30 game trailers spread over almost two hours, there was more to see than anywhere else. And most of it will even be released this year.
"Evil Genius 2"
Rebellion has developed a new supervillain game. For a change, you get to play the bad guys. Stop pesky secret agents and other intruders from infiltrating your secret base with deadly traps.
"Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2"
For the first time, real gameplay of the upcoming vampire role-playing game was shown. You will have to visit heaps of dark locations and make lots of tricky decisions that will have a decisive influence on the course of the game. It will be released in the first quarter of 2020.
"Starmancer"
Build your own space station, decide what goes where and put intrusive space pirates to flight in this space station simulation inspired by "Dwarf Fortress".
"Chivalry 2"
"Mordhau" may soon have competition. Chivalry 2 is the sequel to the popular medieval multiplayer battle game. There are new modes, more players and now also horses. And the battle from "Game of Thrones" called "Battle of the Bastards" will also be part of "Chivalry 2". To be released in spring 2020, first in the Epic Game Store.
"Mosaic"
This dark adventure game is set in a dystopian future where suddenly nothing is as it used to be. Due to be released this year.
"Midnight Ghost Hunt"
Show what you can do as a ghost or ghost hunter. "Midnight Ghost Hunt" is a multiplayer hide-and-seek game with eight players (4 vs. 4). The ghosts camouflage themselves as part of the facility and the hunters have to track them down. The "Half-Life" mod "Prop Hunt" served as inspiration.
"Unexplored 2"
Don't be fooled by the fabulous graphics. This action adventure game is tough as nails. Hardcore roguelike is what the developers call it.
"Mutant Year Zero: Seed of Evil"
On 30 July, the first expansion for the tactical action game "Mutant Year Zero" will be released. You can now also play as a mutant moose. Yeah, baby!
"Moons of Madness"
Lots of hellish creatures are out to get you in this sci-fi horror game. The horror begins on Halloween 2019 on PC, PS4 Xbox One.
"Conan Chop Chop"
It could be the successor to "Castle Crasher" - just with Conan. Use all manner of axes, swords and bows to smash your way through this fun-looking hack 'n' slash with friends. To be released on 3 September.
"Last Oasis"
Strange wooden war machines in the shape of spiders and other insects fighting medieval battles? The survival game "Last Oasis" definitely has an unusual setting.
"Age of Wonders Planetfall"
Dinos with laser cannons, alien penguins, cyborg zombies and lots of other wacky sci-fi stuff awaits you in the upcoming strategy game from Paradox. Just imagine "Civilisation 6" on LSD. Comes out in two months.
"Zombie Army 4: Dead War"
The latest work from the makers of "Sniper Elite 4" brings zombies into the Second World War scenario. Sniping still takes place, but there is also plenty of heavy weaponry such as miniguns and flamethrowers.
"Remnant From the Ashes"
This co-op action shooter is set in a post-apocalyptic world full of fantastic creatures. The dynamic game design, which combines monsters, levels and quests independently, ensures replay value. Coming on 20 August.
"Griftlands"
"Griftlands" is a card game, but it has surprisingly dynamic gameplay. You can actively influence the course of the game by either fighting alone or forming alliances, but then risking them stabbing you in the back later. The alpha starts on 11 July 2019.
"Planet Zoo"
The "Rollercoaster Tycoon" makers have shown gameplay for their new zoo simulator. Animals have never been animated more realistically. Build your own zoo and fill it with life and attractions. The beta starts this summer.
"Shenmue 3"
"Shenmue" is a legendary open-world game series that revolutionised the genre with its wealth of detail and sheer endless possibilities. A short gameplay trailer has now been released.
"Songs of Conquest"
If you're a big fan of the "Heroes of Might and Magic" series like me, you can look forward to "Songs of Conquest". In this fantasy game world, you roam around with your hero in search of treasures, resources and adventures. You'll have to be patient until the end of 2020.
"Vermintide 2 Versus"
A new game mode for "Vermintide 2" turns the co-op game into a versus game. One side continues to play the heroes, while four other players slip into the skin of the rats.
"Per Aspera"
Colonise Mars in the strategy game "Per Aspera".
"Ancestors"
Prehistoric scenarios are very rare in games. "Ancestors" is a survival game in which you play as our foppish ancestors. On 27 August, you can show whether you make it to Homo Sapiens or not.
"Auto Chess"
Chess may not sound like the most spectacular game, but "Auto Chess" is currently taking players' hearts by storm. Originally a mod for "Dota 2", it is now becoming a standalone version.
"Cris Tales"
A role-playing game that mixes past and present. What you do in one time influences the other. The special thing about "Cris Tales" is that you can see all timelines on one screen.
"Valfaris"
2D action platformer with a heavy metal soundtrack and equally cool gameplay. Shred your way through endless hordes of aliens until your fingers hurt.
"Maneater"
You start out as a little baby shark and eat your way to becoming a big man-eater. However, the villain in this game is not you, but a nasty fisherman. "Like GTA if you were a shark," is how the developer described it at the presentation.
"Terraria Journeys End
There is a new expansion for the open-world pixel game "Terraria" called "Journeys End".
"Telling Lies"
In the spiritual successor to "Her Story", you try to uncover a secret using numerous video clips on a found hard drive. You have to listen carefully to what the various characters have to say so that you can draw the right conclusions.
"Warframe Empyrean"
"Warframe" opens the next chapter. The official reveal of the new expansion is on 6 July.
"Genesis Noir"
A noire adventure set before, after and during the Big Bang. Now that's a premise. Look forward to wormholes, the earth in its infancy and jazz cafés.
"El Hijo"
In this game inspired by spaghetti westerns, you play a young boy in search of his mother who has to use all sorts of tricks to sneak past monks and other adversaries.
