DJI Osmo Action Cam: The one with two screens

DJI is best known for its drones. The Chinese company has now announced its first action cam. The most striking feature: the action cam has a second screen on the front.
DJI has been producing handheld cameras with an integrated gimbal alongside its drones for some time now. Now the Chinese company is venturing into the field of action cameras. In addition to the pioneer GoPro, there are now countless other competitors. DJI therefore needs to launch an attractive offering in order to survive.
In fact, the DJI Osmo Action Cam has a unique selling point: the second screen on the front. It is square and 1.4 inches in size - as big as it can be when a lens takes up space next to it.

The GoPro Hero 7 Black also has a small secondary screen on the front, but this is only a black and white LCD for a few pieces of information such as battery status. The Osmo Action Cam's monitor, on the other hand, is capable of displaying the viewfinder image.
The camera is also waterproof without the housing. Up to 11 metres, which is one metre more than the competition. With an additional housing, dives to a depth of 60 metres are possible. According to DJI, the action cam works in freezing temperatures down to -10° C.
With these two features, the Osmo is not entirely unrivalled. The Sony RX0 II is also waterproof and its screen can be rotated 180 degrees, so it fulfils the same purpose as the DJI Cam's secondary monitor. The Sony camera also has a much larger sensor and therefore most likely a significantly better image quality.
But the Sony RX0 II also plays in a different price range. The Osmo Action Cam therefore fills a space that no other product has yet occupied.
DJI particularly emphasises the RockSteady electronic image stabilisation. It is said to stabilise the image superbly even at 4K and 60 fps. Peter McKinnon has already tried out the camera, you can see the image stabilisation from minute 4. The Osmo Action Cam obviously stabilises extremely strongly - so strongly that I wonder whether it also removes deliberate camera movements.
