by Luca Fontana

«Hawkeye» is the next Marvel series to be launched on Disney+. It will premiere on 24 November.
Marvel fans have been awaiting the official start date of the «Hawkeye» series for a long time. Finally, it has been announced: the Avengers spin-off is set to premiere on Disney+ on 24 November 2021. Actor Jeremy Renner will reprise the role of Clint Barton.
Like «WandaVision», «The Falcon and the Winter Soldier» and «Loki», «Hawkeye» will be a miniseries. A total of eight episodes are planned.
Many details about the storyline remain unknown. However, it is known that the miniseries is loosely based on the eponymous comic series published between 2012 and 2015. In the comics, Clint Barton aka Hawkeye takes a young Kate Bishop under his wing; she had filled in for him while he was (temporarily) declared dead.
Kate Bishop made her debut in the early 2000s in the «Young Avengers» series, which followed a group of teenagers forming an independent «Avengers» team. Members of the «Young Avengers» included: Speed and Wiccan (Wanda Maximoff’s twin boys), Iron Lad (a Nathaniel Richards variant) and Sylvie Lushton (also known as Enchantress).
Fans of «WandaVision» and «Loki» are sure to be familiar with these names. It’s quite possible that this will serve as a basis for a future «Young Avengers» series.
In the live-action series, Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld, will be a bit older than in the comics. Namely, 22 years old. Co-star Jeremy Renner spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the character of Kate Bishop in the miniseries:
[Kate is] a 22-year-old kid and she's a big Hawkeye fan. She has a wonderfully annoying and equally charming manner about her, because she’s such a fangirl of Hawkeye.
This sounds just like the comics, which are essentially about Barton training the young Kate to be the new Hawkeye. The comics are so beloved precisely because they portray two Hawkeyes of different genders and generations who, over the course of the story, learn a lot from each other about fighting crime and about life itself.
Marvel fans have reason to rejoice. A total of three live-action series and one motion picture have already been released this year. And more releases are planned. Upcoming 2021 releases are:
