digitec podcast episode 6: digitec women's joke tweet, Nintendo's gigaleak and Garmin cyber attack

The tech world urgently needs a plumber. There haven't been this many leaks for a long time. From Nintendo to Samsung to Oculus, no one is safe. Before the news, we discuss a tweet from digitec that made big waves.
"What is digitec trying to tell us with this joke about women?" "20 Minuten" headlines an article about a tweet that was posted by the digitec account on Tuesday. The sentence "We have a joke about women in the GL, but unfortunately we don't have any" was part of a meme that is currently doing the rounds online. The response to it was mixed. Dominik Bärlocher and Simon Balissat discuss this with two of the people behind the tweet, Caroline Teufelberger and Rico Schüpbach.
The story continues no less dramatically with the Gigaleak from Nintendo. Enormous amounts of data were published via the 4chan forum, including complete source codes from SNES and Nintendo 64 classics, never-released prototypes and cancelled games. However, a lot of personal data such as comments, notebooks and calendar entries from developers, some of which are 30 years old, have also come to light.
A security leak also occurred at Garmin. There, attackers encrypted an entire server with user data and are now demanding a high ransom.
A hands-on video of the upcoming Galaxy Watch 3 has found its way online without payment. Which met with moderate interest from us.
The leaked images of the Oculus Quest 2 are more exciting, at least for me. However, I am alone in my enthusiasm for VR.
On the other hand, we are in agreement about the Xbox Games Showcase. While the games only convinced us to a limited extent, we see the Game Pass as the real next-gen winner.
Netflix has announced a new "The Witcher" series, which is set before the events surrounding Geralt the Witcher. We can't wait to see that.
Not excited, but absolutely thrilled, is Dominik about the new Sony A7SIII. At 4K with 120 fps, the good man almost topples out of his gaming chair.
After that, we ponder mid-range smartphones, as Simon has treated himself to the OnePlus Nord. Whether it will fulfil all his wishes remains to be seen.
Finally, Simon takes us into the world of online drug dealing. He watched the second season of "How to sell drugs online (fast)" on Netflix and is now flirting with a career change.

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
