You’ve decided. The first «digitec playground» cup will be a «Counter-Strike: Global Offensive» contest. Sign up is now open.

It was a tight race between «Rainbow Six Siege» and «Counter-Strike: Global Offensive». «Super Smash Bros. Ultimate» and «Overwatch» also mixed in at the top for a long time while «PUBG» and «Fifa 19» had to admit defeat surprisingly early. But in the end, the result was clear: with 18 percent of all votes, «CS: GO» is the winner. «Rainbow Six Siege» came second with 14 percent.

Tournament details

We’ll play two qualifying rounds and one final. You sign up as a team of five players. We’ll play in a knockout format: once your team loses, you’re out. However, you can play in both qualifiers and increase your chances of reaching the final. The tournament takes place online. This means you’ll play from home.

The scoring is as follows:
1st place: 25 pts
2nd place: 18 pts
3rd place: 15 pts
4th place: 12 pts
5-6th place: 10 pts
7-8th place: 8 pts
9-12th place: 6 pts
13-16th place: 4 pts

No more than 64 teams can take part in the qualifying rounds. It’s first come, first served. Those seven teams that collect the most points in both qualifying rounds together will reach the final. The eighth spot is reserved for team digitec, whose matches we’ll show live from the eStudios.

Schedule and sign up

Conditions of participation

Participation is open to everyone who is 18 or over. At least three out of five players from each team must either be resident in Switzerland or have a Swiss passport.

Prizes

Together with our partners Logitech and HP, we’ll hand over great prizes to the best three teams. As soon as we’ve defined the final details, we’ll let you know what prizes are up for grabs.

Livestream

The final between the eight finalists will be shown on 19 October with live commentary on our YouTube channel. You’ll even have the chance to watch team digitec up close: our employees will be filmed while they’re competing in the eStudios in Zurich.

Good luck to everyone!

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
