digitec is organising its first own e-sports tournament. You can’t only take part, you can also choose which game will be played.
Are you the headshot champion in «Counter-Strike GO»? The top scorer in «Rocket League»? A pro at kiting in «League of Legends»? Then participate in «digitec playground», our first in-house e-sports cup. This is a pilot project and we’re interested in your opinion.
digitec and gaming make a good match. As far back as 20 years ago, when digitec was a small shop in Zurich Wiedikon, gaming in the office was not unusual. Only to stress test PCs, of course. Although the founders no longer have time for this today, they’re still gamers at heart – and so are most digitec employees. Therefore, the idea of organising a gaming tournament wasn’t far to seek. With «digitec playground», Digitec Galaxus wants to offer casual as well as ambitious gamers the chance to prove their skills and win great prizes.
The first «digitec playground» cup will take place on 19 October. In cooperation with eStudios, digitec will stream and comment the matches live. The qualifying will take place on a separate date to be announced. digitec is counting on your support: because we want as many players as possible to take part, we’re letting you decide which game will be played. After the vote, we’ll publish a follow-up article with all the details about signing up and the schedule of the cup.
There will be a digitec team, too. These matches will be played live in the eStudios at Hardbrücke in Zurich. Who these gamers will be hasn’t been decided yet and depends – among other things – on which game gets the most votes.
The digitec team will play at eStudios.
Now let’s get to the voting: we’ve made a preselection, as not all games are suitable for our e-sports cup. The vote is open until 22 July.

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
