CES 2022: New AMD desktop processors and low-end graphics card announced
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D is AMD's first chip with 3D V-cache, which should improve gaming performance. AMD has also announced information about the Zen 4 processors.
The AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D is supposed to offer more, especially in gaming performance. It is the first chip with 3D V-Cache. AMD stacks an SRAM chip on top of the CPU chips. This serves as an extended buffer stage and thus increases the L3 cache. The chip should be available in spring 2022.
The whole thing is said to deliver up to 36 percent more performance compared to the Ryzen 9 5900X in 1080p resolution, depending on the game. In addition, the technology should allow AMD to catch back up to Intel and their i9-12900K, currently the fastest gaming chip.
Zen 4 in 5nm production and with AM5 socket
With the Zen 4 processors, AMD is changing the socket from AM4 to AM5 after almost five years. So new motherboards will be needed if you want to switch to Zen 4 and Ryzen 7000. For the first time, AMD is using TSMC's 5nm process for manufacturing. The processors, as well as the new Socket AM5, are expected to be available in the second half of 2022 and will also support PCIe 5.0 and DDR5. In addition, AMD promises 5.0 GHz clock on all cores.
Radeon RX 6500
The Radeon RX 6500 XT features 1024 cores and 4GB of GDDR6 memory. The clock frequency should be up to 2815 MHz. It is manufactured in the 6nm process at TSMC. It is the first AMD card to be manufactured using this process.

The 6500 XT is scheduled for release as early as January 19.
AMD has also announced new features of the Adrenalin software. Among them, Radeon Super Resolution might be the most exciting. Like the Fidelity Super Resolution upscaling technology, it is supposed to upscale the resolution of games for better performance. However, Radeon Super Resolution is supposed to work with almost all available games. The update of Adrenalin should be ready for installation in the first quarter of 2022.
