Blackview P2: My new life with a lot of battery (and a brick)

Blackview is a little-known mobile phone manufacturer from China. In the P2 Blackview has installed a monster battery in the P2. I tested the device and report on my new life without a constantly empty battery, but with a new problem: the mobile is far too heavy.
My old mobile was constantly, but really constantly, running out of battery. Do you know this problem too? My battery didn't even last a day. That's why I complained to our product managers. I want a phone where the battery lasts longer and I don't have to constantly run through everyday life in battery-saving mode and armed with a power bank. The digitec mobile team recommended the Blackview P2 to me. The P2 has a 6000 mAh battery. 6000 mAh is really a lot. By comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Note8 has a 3300 mAh battery.

What surprised me the most: The P2 costs just CHF 199 when this test is completed on 15 November. At first I thought to myself that a phone for that price wouldn't be able to do much. I was proven wrong.
And because I like comparisons so much, here's another one: There's a battery case for the iPhone that's almost as expensive as the Blackview. With the Blackview P2, you also get a phone in addition to the battery.
Blackview out-of-the-box
The Blackview comes in a snow-white box and with a white charger. Somehow I was expecting more black.
But what I was really pleased about: the box contains a transparent protective cover that fits the phone perfectly and a protective film for the display. That's what I call service, and at such a favourable price. Merci Blackview!
The last time I tested a mobile, this is what happened to me: [[marketingpage:5865]]
I was afraid that the Blackview would break too. Thanks to the included accessories, I immediately have a much better feeling.

A mobile like a brick - a lot of battery needs a lot of space
The Blackview is remarkably heavy. It weighs 230 grams. By comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Note8 weighs 195 grams, making it one of the heavier models. However, the weight is the only thing that really bothered me during the entire test. The Blackview is so heavy that I even notice it when I carry it in my handbag. But at least it's not as much weight as I was carrying around with the powerbank before.
It is also relatively large at 5.5 inches, but most flagships from other manufacturers are no smaller these days. But at 10.40 mm, it's also very thick. I quickly got used to the size. The weight less so.
I could almost kill someone with the Göppel. You know that moment when you're lying in bed reading something on your mobile? And then bang, suddenly it happens: Your mobile falls out of your hand and right into your face.

Luckily, that didn't happen to me with the Blackview. That would have been a broken nose for sure. Or at least a black eye.
How long does the battery last now?
Now for what is probably the most important question to be answered in this article: How long does the huge battery last now? In order to achieve a qualitatively scientifically relevant result, I meticulously kept a diary of when I had to charge the battery.
The result, attention, drum roll please: six times in a fortnight. On average, the battery lasts just over two days.
I don't consider myself a heavy user. But I probably am. I listen to music on my smartphone whenever I can, including throughout the day at the office. The phone therefore has to play music for several hours a day. Plus the occasional video, the usual surfing and Whatsapp use.
Once I'm at school, it's even more. Nevertheless, I have never had to charge the Blackview after just one day.
I feel really liberated from the tangle of charging cables. A great feeling!
I didn't use the mobile in energy-saving mode either. I was really wasteful with the battery. That would have been unimaginable with my old mobile phone.
The battery would certainly have lasted much longer in energy-saving mode. I also always left the display, which consumes a lot of battery, on almost full brightness.
According to Blackview, the battery should even last four days.
Also great: Charging takes just 1.5 hours with the quick-charging adapter supplied. I also charged the phone once on the PC without the quick charger. It only lasted once, as the charging process took just over five hours.
However, the fast charging adapter is really great compared to other devices, such as an iPad, which also has such a large battery but always has such a long charging time.
The downsides of the Blackview
It happened twice: A blackout with the Blackview. The phone crashed completely twice. Both times I was outside and it was relatively cold. But still: That shouldn't happen. I also don't know why the Blackview crashed like that, I wasn't doing anything special and I'm innocent.
I also couldn't get to grips with the speakers. My music sounds like it's coming out of a tin can. It's a shame that Blackview has cut corners here.
Who can use a Blackview?
At the end of the test, I can say: I would continue to use the Blackview if it wasn't so heavy. The weight just bothered me too much.
If you don't mind the heavy weight, but constantly empty batteries, then I recommend the Blackview. Especially if you don't want to spend a lot of money on your mobile phone. <p

Testing devices and gadgets is my thing. Some experiments lead to interesting insights, others to demolished phones. I’m hooked on series and can’t imagine life without Netflix. In summer, you’ll find me soaking up the sun by the lake or at a music festival.
