Do you just end up shooting yourself in the foot in «Call of Duty: Warzone», or do you have a friend who’s dealing more damage to your squad than the enemy’s? Worry not. We’ll give you the coaching you need so you can try your hand at winning the upcoming digitec Playground cup!

Not everyone has the time or natural talent to shine in the battle royale shooter game «Call of Duty: Warzone». Or maybe you’ve been lacking the confidence to simply go for it. Whatever the case, we're here to help you out. In preparation for the digitec Playground amateur tournament taking place on 30 January 2021, we’re offering you professional coaching led by an experienced «Warzone» player. He’ll show you what to watch out for, which strategy is the recipe for success, and how best to set up your mouse. And in case you need to stock up on any gaming accessories, we’ve got you covered.

The game has been chosen: sign up for the digitec Playground 3

How to earn the honour of being coached?

You can nominate yourself, a friend, or any Swiss Twitch streamer you’d like to see sweat in «Warzone» instead of leisurely toying around with building blocks in Minecraft. Provided, of course, they themselves are interested in our boot camp and participating in the digitec Playground tournament. The person with the most votes wins and becomes digitec’s official «Warzone» player.

Who’s the coach?

Reto Canova – co-moderator of our first digitec Playground – not only has a nippy mouth, but also a nimble trigger finger. He’s an experienced eSportsman and can teach you what he knows in Swiss German, French or English.

What does the coaching look like?

Reto will put together a custom coaching plan with the winner. It will include four to six coaching sessions of one to two hours each. Ample «Warzone» playing in the sessions is a must, not only to understand the mechanics and learn how to read the world, but also to learn how to set up the hardware correctly. At least two coaching sessions will be livestreamed on our digitec playground Twitch channel.
One livestream will be just with Reto, and one will include the guys from digitec plays. That should lower the bar a little bit.

Of course, professional e-athletes take care of their physical fitness as well. An editorial video contribution on this is in the works: the participant will have the chance to showcase his or her physical prowess away from the PC. We’ll discuss the exact details of this video with the winner.

On 30 January 2020 – tournament day – the winner will be assigned to a team at random, like all the other participants. The difference is that, if possible, he or she will play on-site in Zurich’s eStudios.

Equipment is on the house

To ensure nothing is left to chance, the appropriate gaming hardware such as a mouse, keyboard, headset and webcam are on the house. Concrete product details will follow.

Conditions of participation

To ensure a certain flair and interest for livestreams, a Twitch account is required for registration. The link or name of the channel is enough. It also helps us keep track of who got how many votes. Just paste the Twitch link into the field at the bottom of this page, and you're good to go.

So, get your friends or followers on board. The candidate with the most votes wins.

All participants must be 18 years of age or present parental permission at registration. In addition, at least two out of three players per team must either be residents of Switzerland or have a Swiss ID document.

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
