Android messages can be corrected 15 minutes after being sent
Google has introduced seven new Android functions. In the Messages app, errors in sent messages can finally be corrected and Paypal is coming to smartwatches with Wear OS.
Google introduces new functions for Android on a quarterly basis. At the end of May 2024, there will be seven functions that will simplify the use of hotspots, bring smart home control to the home screen and turn the smartphone into a digital key for other cars, among other things.
Edit messages after they have been sent
If you notice a mistake after sending a chat message, you can correct it for 15 minutes. Typos, missing words or unclear formulations can be corrected quickly. However, this only applies to Google's Messages app and not to all chat apps on Android. However, some of these already offer corresponding functions - WhatsApp, for example, has been offering this function for around a year.

To edit, press and hold the corresponding message until the emoji reactions appear. The pen for editing appears in the top line, where you can also copy or forward the message.
Transferring a hotspot to another device without a password and Google Meet
Google will soon be making it easier to use a hotspot. With Instant Hotspot, you can connect your Android tablet or Chromebook to your smartphone without having to enter your password.
If you use Google Meet, you can also transfer calls from one device to another and continue them there. To do this, tap the cast icon. You can switch between Android phones, tablets and web browsers.
New emoji combinations
"Emoji Kitchen" is Google's function that allows you to combine emojis into stickers. There is an increase in new combinations for the festival season. Disco ball and headphones is the only combination Google mentions. You'll probably have to find out more yourself.

Easy access to Google Home
Using Google Home to control your smart home devices gives you new access options. The "Google Home favourites widget" brings your most frequently used smart home devices to the home screen of your smartphone

On a smartwatch with Wear OS, a "Google Home favourites tile" is added, which should bring quick control over smart lamps, door locks or thermostats to your wrist.
Paypal on the smartwatch
Paypal will be the latest payment method for smartwatches with Wear OS. For the time being, however, you can only add the payment service provider via Google Wallet if you live in the USA or Germany.
Digital car keys for more models
The smartphone is becoming a digital car key for even more cars. The function is already available for selected Mini models. Others from Mercedes-Benz and Polestar will soon be able to be locked and unlocked using the phone. However, Google does not provide an exact list of supported models.
