All trailers and news of the Summer Game Fest at a glance

Summer Game Fest is increasingly becoming the most important game event of the year. This year's show was not stingy with new trailers and game premieres.
From the first screenshot of the next Naughty Dog game to "Goat Simulator 3" and "Aliens Dark Descent," there was something for everyone. The Summer Game Fest was ceremoniously opened on Thursday evening by industry leader Geoff Keighley. In the coming days, more livestreams from Tribeca Games, Epic Games, Bethesda and Xbox will follow under the same mantle. But for now, here's the pickings from last night's event.
"Street Fighter"
A new old character was revealed for the sequel to the cult brawling series, and it's Guile
To be released in 2023
"Aliens Dark Descent"
A new "Alien" game awaits you with "Dark Descent". But not only the iconic Xenomorphs are closing in on you, but also a new zombie-like threat. The game is played from a bird's eye view. Reminds me of "Alien Swarm".
Released 2023
"Calisto Protocol
The first real gameplay of the "Dead Space"-like space horror game "Calisto Protocol" was shown. It's going to be scary and bloody - scary bloody.
To be released on December 2
"Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
If you can't think of any new names, you just dig up the old ones again, seems to be the motto at Activision. Even the old guard like Price, Soap and Ghost have to return to the front. In the first gameplay trailer, the players fight on a cargo ship in the middle of a stormy sea, while containers slide across the deck. Looks impressive, but those who know it, know it.
Released October 28th
"Flashback 2
30 years after the original, "Flashback" returns. Looks futuristic and whacky.
Released at the end of the year
"Witchfire"
You don't see first-person shooters in a fantasy medieval setting every day. Plus a colorful assortment of classic weapons and magic.
Early Access starts soon
"Fort Solis"
An eerie Mars adventure is hidden behind "Fort Solis". With Troy Baker and Roger Clark, two well-known speakers are on board. So there should be a lot of story to experience on the red planet.
Still without date
"Routine
With all these space horror games, I'm surprised that anyone dares to go into space at all. In "Routine" there are for once no aliens (at least in the trailer), but bad-tempered robots, which are after your life.
Still without a date
"Stormgate
Hell demons fighting against flying mechs and mysterious artifacts can be seen in this trailer. Gameplay was unfortunately completely missing, only a few screenshots that reveal a first impression of the sci-fi setting were shown. Many former Blizzard developers are working on this real-time strategy game.
2023 starts the beta
"Highwater"
From the "Golf Club: Wasteland" developers comes the next game with a dystopian setting. "Highwater" is an adventure game that revolves around a climate disaster.
To be released sometime in 2022
"American Arcadia"
70s retro future meets "Truman Show" plus wild chases. This and more await you in "American Arcadia".
Coming soon
"Goat Simulator 3
The mad goat is back and he's brought reinforcements. "Goat Simulator 3" can be played with friends, by all appearances.
To be released in autumn
"Marvel Midnight Suns"
Firaxis, the developers of "Xcom" expand their successful concept with map elements and combine it with Marvel's superhero squad.
To be released on October 7.
"Neon White"
What did I just see there? Totally wacky anime-style first-person shooter action set in heaven, but you're a devil? What?
To be released on June 16
"Midnight Fight Express"
"Midnight Fight Express" is a one-man project by Polish developer Jacob Dzwinel. The trailer promises lots of frenetic action that will make even John Wick break out in a sweat.
To be released on August 23
"Honkai: Star Rail World"
MiHoYo Game, the Chinese studio behind "Genshin Impact" has unveiled its next work. This time it goes - how could it be otherwise - into space. The gacha principle, where new characters are unlocked like in slot machines, seems to be kept.
Coming soon
"Zenless Zone Zero"
In anime style, it continues. Everyone who couldn't wait for "Bayonetta 3" should be happy here. Lightly dressed ladies fight with samurai swords against giant battle mechs.
Still without a date
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge"
Pure 80's love from sound to design, Turtles triggers everything with me. Give it to me now...yeeeet.
Released June 16
"OnePiece Odyssey"
I'd love to tell you what the trailer is about, but I didn't get anything at all. A flying pirate ship, a giant mutant gorilla, and a hint of Zelda Breath of the Wild? Absolutely no idea what I just saw. Supposed to be a JRPG, is that enough?
To be released in 2022
"Metal: Hellsinger"
In the rhythmic ergoshooter "Metal: Hellsinger" you shoot to the sounds of Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Matt Heafy (Trivium) and Randy Blythe (Lamb of God). More metal is hardly possible.
Released on September 15
"Nightingate"
"Nightingate" is a survival game with a fascinating 19th century fantasy setting. In it, you not only fight against numerous mythical creatures, but also gradually build an extensive base.
Still without a date
"Saints Row Boss Factory"
Boss Factory is a demo that already lets you design a character for the upcoming open-world action game.
The game will be released on August 23
"Darktide"
Fatshark, the developers of "Vermintide" have the next four-player co-op game in the works with "Darktide" - this time in the Warhammer universe. Again there are hordes of monsters to fight, some machines to activate and to arrive safely at the end of the level.
To be released on September 13
"Layers of Fears"
Bloober Team have already developed some scary games with "Layers of Fear" (singular) and "Blair Whitch", "Layers of Fears" is supposed to be the next psycho-horror trip. Thanks to Unreal Engine 5, it looks better than ever.
To be released in early 2023
"Gotham Knights"
In "Gotham Knights" you can choose from several heroes. You can see a glimpse of Nightwing in the latest trailer.
To be released on October 25
New multiplayer game from Naughty Dog
There was no trailer, just a screenshot of the next game from Naughty Dog ("The Last of us"). The game is expected to be bigger than any of the studio's previous single-player projects.
"The Last of Us Remake"
The original "The Last of Us" won't just get a new coat of paint, but will be redeveloped from the ground up for the PS5. A PC version is also in the works, unfortunately without a release date yet.
To be released on September 2, 2022

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
