A Tech Affair episode 162: YouTube blocks ad blockers, Snow White controversy, gaming musical "Stray Gods"

YouTube takes action against ad blockers. Disney's Snow White remake stirs up controversy. Netflix focuses on cloud gaming. "Stray Gods" turns us into singing detectives.
Google is testing new measures against ad blockers on its video portal. Soon, the only way around adverts will probably be to pay for a YouTube Premium subscription. We wonder whether users will go along with this. Sony is apparently planning to launch a new Playstation 5 this year. We discuss why this could be another step into the digital future. Netflix is also focussing on gaming and is currently testing a cloud solution for PC, Mac and TV. To round off the news, we talk about the heated Snow White debate. The remake of the 1937 animated film is to be adapted into a contemporary film. This is not going down well everywhere - not least because of the statements made by the leading actress.
In Big Screen, we travel into the future. Chaos reigns in the post-apocalyptic world of "Twisted Metal". At the centre of it all is John Doe, who delivers parcels as a "Milkman". What does this have to do with the original game? Find out in the podcast. As well as why it's worth watching the murder mystery "The Afterparty".
We played, or rather sang, our way through "Stray Gods". Perhaps the first and only role-playing musical in which you have to solve a murder case as a newly minted goddess. There are even more murders, but no singing, in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". In this multiplayer game, you either try to escape as a survivor or hunt down the disobedient guests as Leatherface.

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
