Where it all began

In the summer of 1969 – exactly 50 years ago – hippies met for the legendary Woodstock Festival. It was the high point of flower power, a movement that went down in history. Around 400,000 people celebrated the summer of love together on the 2.4 square kilometre farm grounds in Bethel, New York. The festival started on August 15th 1969 with folk singer Richie Havens and ended on August 18th when the unforgettable Jimi Hendrix sent the audience home with «Hey Joe».
