163 forgotten cases and how you can win one of them

Sometimes something is forgotten. An umbrella in the bar or a jacket on the train. All little things. What we forgot: 163 Fractal Design cases.
You've been walking past boxes in the warehouse for years without a clue. You keep asking yourself: What's in there and why have they been here for so long? One day you decide to take a look inside. A somewhat outdated case with the digitec logo smiles back at you. You look in the other boxes. Yes, there are actually the same cases everywhere. Have a count. One case, two, three... 163 cases!
How can this happen? Even if the cases are mini towers, the boxes are anything but mini.
I set off in search of clues.

What happened and why were the cases forgotten?
The story begins about five years ago. digitec was selling complete PCs in the Fractal Design ARC Mini R2 at the time. A good mATX case from 2013/2014, both JayZ TwoCents and HardwareCanucks found the case to be good. PC Games Hardware even named it the best mATX case at the time. The complete systems were sold until 2015 and occasionally into 2016, after which the digitec PCs changed cases.

The people responsible at digitec and Littlebit also changed at that time. Littlebit is the partner that assembles digitec PCs for us. Shortly before the change, the digitec employee responsible ordered new ARC Mini R2s. The only problem was that his successor didn't know about it. He then decided to rethink the digitec PC strategy and use new cases. Since then, the ARC Mini R2 cases have been sitting around in the Littlebits warehouse.
How they didn't notice? That's also a mystery to me. Perhaps everything happened as I wrote at the beginning and a Littlebit employee "found" them by chance.
Giveaway and ridiculous price
Super, now we're sitting on 163 outdated cases with the digitec logo. How can we get rid of them? We need your help
.
A case like this with the digitec logo stamped on the side is something special - a Uni... er 163-kat. Okay, admittedly: I wouldn't knock down any doors for the case. But as a digitec fan, maybe you've always wanted a case with the logo on it and then install your own components in it.
If this applies to you: We're giving away ten cases to our fastest readers. All you have to do is click on "Enter" below. The first ten noses will receive the case as a gift, but must come and collect it from us in Zurich outside the shop on 25 October at 12:00 noon.
Anybody who missed the prize draw can get a digitec case for the ridiculously low price of 29 francs. Let's see if we can get rid of them all. We'll then simply organise a case toss or something similar with the remaining ones. Date and location will follow in due course.

The competition has ended.
Update: 18.10.19
Wow. You guys are incredible. It only took half an hour for all the free cases to be gone. I ended the competition early because over 1000 people had taken part by this morning. But it's even more amazing that almost all the cases were sold in less than 24 hours. We've now added another 15 because there were a few cancellations. Unfortunately, if you buy them too, it won't work out with the case giveaway. Well, maybe we'll lose a few more cases at some point and then we'll make up for it.
By the way, here are the winners of the ten free cases. You will be informed about your luck today:
- Marco Gilgien
- Loris Bühler
- Robin Schweri
- Robin Kuhn
- Thomas Heiniger
- Zarko Dragojevic
- Matthias Nöthiger
- Luca Brügger
- Fabian Donzé
- Leonard Schai
Update: 18.10.19 (a little later)
The last cases are now gone, so you can see the original price of 109 francs. So it's definitely not going to be a case drop. Too bad, but maybe another time.
