How do I know which size to buy? 40mm or 44mm? Thank you very much for the feedback.

The 44mm is simply 4mm larger in diameter. You'll have to find out for yourself which watch suits you better.
You can do this by trying on the two different sizes in a watch shop.
Tip: if you have a rather wide wrist and a large hand, the 44mm will fit you better than the slightly smaller 40mm version.
