Will an Intel Xeon processor fit on this mainboard? I would be very happy if someone could answer this question, because I have already ordered both. So I could still cancel the order. Thanks :')

Hello Luc,

Intel has put a stop to it. The "trick" of operating the Xeon processors on consumer boards (B/H/Z chipsets) was prevented by the boot block in the CPU. Unfortunately, you can no longer "misuse" E3-1200 series V5 processors.

This is mainly a marketing decision by Intel. Since the chipsets for the corresponding Xeon processors do not sell accordingly and the E3 12xx are at the lower end of the profit margin, they have decided to simply no longer support them on consumer boards.

Ergo, the chips are flying off the shelves like hot cakes, but the desired profit is not being achieved across the board.

Greetings Dave

So I don't see any Xeon processors on the motherboard compatibility list: http://www.gigabyte.com/support-do...
