Why do I have to give my age to buy this product?
The reason for asking the age is probably to satisfy an age control requirement for creating a Microsoft account (you have to be an adult). On the other hand, you should not think that it is to verify the right to receive a "Student" version, because it is a "Student" and "Home" version at the same time, which means a version for anyone. If one really wanted to verify one's student status, it is not the age that one would ask, but rather the place of study (and possibly the proof). I'm not a student, I'm over 50, and I use the Microsoft Office Student & Home suite which I bought from Digitec without any problems.
Probably to check the credibility and relevance of the "Student" version? I remember there was a question(s) and some time before releasing the purchase, but I don't remember the details.
