Question about RME Audio ADI-2 DAC FS

I use my ADI-2 with Audeze LCD-X and Denon DH-7200. Both headphones harmonise perfectly with the ADI-2 and listening to music is enjoyable even during longer sessions. The DAC and headphone amplifier are excellent and deserve headphones in a similar price range.

In my opinion, there are no objective criteria. I personally find headphones like AKG K812 highly recommendable.

This headphone amp/DAC is very uncritical and works with a wide range of headphones, from over-ear planar to in-ear multi-drivers. I use the RME myself with Sennheiser HD 660S, Audio Technica ATH-M50X, AKG K702 and Meze 99 Classics. I also use it as a preamp for a pair of Dynaudio LYD7 active speakers.

Headphones that do not receive enough voltage on weaker devices (sound too quiet because they have a high impedance or low efficiency) and headphones/IEMs that are extremely efficient (very low impedance) because they have a background noise on poorer quality devices benefit the most.

The ADI-2 DAC FS provides both enough voltage for the former headphones, but at the same time has very little noise floor for the latter headphones/IEMs.

In addition, all headphones can benefit from the various settings such as crossfeed, equaliser, overvoltage protection etc. that are included in the ADI-2 DAC FS. I love mine!

The DAC works great with all headphones. I need it with LCD-X, LCD-2C, Ether Flow C, HD 650, but if you want to compare headphones or change headphones frequently, I would rather recommend the ADI-2-Pro FS R BE as it has two independent connections.
