What is the difference between the PRF-49 protective filter and another UV filter from, for example, the B+W brand? Is the X100V with the AR-X100 adapter ring and another 49mm filter also weatherproof?

As far as I know, the Fuji PRF-49 protective filter is not a UV filter, but a clear filter, like the XS-Pro Digital-Pro 007 Clear MRC nano 49 from B+W. If you take the quality of the Fuji XF lenses as a benchmark, then the PRF-49 protective filter will probably have the same high quality standard. In terms of tightness, I don't think there is any difference between the two; neither has an additional seal; the filter thread serves as protection here. The X-100V does not become waterproof by screwing on the filter, but only protects the front lens against spray and dust when it moves forwards and backwards during focusing. I have B+W clear filters on all my XF lenses, but I bought the PRF-49 after all. Rolls Royce or Bentley: a question of personal taste.

The only reason I bought the original set was that I didn't want to risk any colour shifts. The X100V is weatherproof even with filters from other manufacturers.
