Question about Devolo Magic 1 WiFi Multiroom kit 2-1-3
What download speeds have other customers been able to achieve via WiFi? I only manage 85Mbit. I have a router from Salt and via its WiFi I get about 400 Mbps. I have Google Mesh connected to the same router and I also get 400 Mbps. But when I connect these Devolo devices, I only get 85 :-(. I was in contact with Devolo support, but they finally gave up and recommended that I send the devices back. I did that and got new ones. Unfortunately still only 85Mbit. Funnily enough, speed between LAN device and WiFi device (over copper) is around 350Mbit. You can measure this with the Devolo Cockpit app.
I even get more (twice as much as you) with Devolo Hotspot, and get 85 Mbit at the end device. I assume that the performance per end device is limited to 100 Mbit, similar to the LAN socket. Devolo could not confirm this? I accepted this after a long engineering process. So at least several devices (?) can share this power - and it's enough for me. I would still like an answer. Anyone?
I have a 1GBit fibre-optic internet and get 800Mbit/s via WLAN via an ancient Apple Extreme. via LAN cable around 930MBit/s. via Devolo Wifi (have the more expensive Magic 2 (supposedly 2400 MBit/s) and get max. 120MBit/s via WLAN, even over 5GHz band, right next to the Devolo device connected via LAN. The device in the garden, which is connected via the mains, manages 75MBit/s with 5GHz band at a distance of two metres... I would have expected something more like 350-500 Mbps.
Devolo shows 450MBit/s, but only an eighth of that arrives at the device via WiFi. Label fraud with 2400 MBit/s. Don't fall for it.
Either I got a total piece of junk, or the devices are simply junk. I had bought such devices again after years. I am very disappointed. WLAN repeaters and mesh are a better investment, and much cheaper.
