What are the advantages and/or disadvantages of the Hoya HD MK II compared to the Fusion Next series? What differences are there (apart from the number of layers)?

Helpful answer

The main difference between the Hoya HD Mk II Protector Filter and the Hoya Fusion ONE Next Protector Filter lies in the glass quality and the coating.

a) Glass quality: The HD Mk II uses chemically strengthened optical glass that is four times stronger than normal optical glass, providing increased robustness and durability. The Fusion ONE Next, on the other hand, uses professional optical glass without this additional strengthening.

b) Coating: Both filters have water and oil-repellent and dirt-resistant properties. The Fusion ONE Next has an 18-layer anti-reflective coating, which ensures very high light transmission. The HD Mk II has a 16-layer anti-reflective coating, which also ensures high light transmission.

The HD Mk II offers greater resistance due to the reinforced glass and is particularly suitable for demanding conditions, while the Fusion ONE Next combines excellent light transmission with additional protective coatings.
