WD My Book
8 TB
We have a WD My Book 8TB from you. This hard disk is in constant use and does not switch to sleep mode (set after 10 minutes). Displays a temperature of 57 degrees C. The setting in WD Drive Utilities for the snooze function (10 minutes) is of no use. What can be done about it ? I didn't get a hint anywhere. The hard drive should be switched off when it goes into snooze mode... Kind regards, Heinz Schaub
The hard drives are always on. When I turn on the computer, they start up and rattle quietly for cooling (I put them underneath so they can't use the desk as a sound box) and when I'm done, they turn off too. They do not heat up.
If the LED flashes continuously, there is probably software that is constantly accessing the drive in the background. E.g. virus scanner or a photo app that indexes images, etc.
USB energy saving must be activated. You can find this in the energy saving plan in the advanced settings. It is activated by default.
