the unit is connected to 2 Canton R-CL speakers. Which do you recommend: R--N803D or A-S801? With thanks, Pierre Weber 4pyotr@gmail.com

I also have the R-N803N with two T&A speakers, about 25 years old,
With the Yamaha receivers, it was always the case that the model with a tuner had an equal or even better amplifier than the model without and was also cheaper.
I think it's really very good, except that it takes a long time to change the Internet radio stations.
The operation as a network player is not very intuitive at first, I spent nights googling until I found out how to play my FLAC and SACD iso collection on the device.
It says it can do it in the data sheet, but it doesn't say anything specific about how to do it.

But I don't know if others are better.

In any case, the sound is great

Hello,
If you are simply looking for a good stereo amplifier for your Canton, you are very well served with both in this price range.
Both will probably work well with your Cantons, or deliver what they need.
I have old B&W 705 speakers and I am satisfied. Sound is very good. Had a Denon DRA100 before and it was more expensive and pointlessly overpowered my speakers.
Only stereo in this price range both top.

If you only listen to CD (or other players) and no connectivity to Spotify etc then the A-S801 is probably the better choice.

I have the N803D and would buy it again. if you don't want to spend more you won't go wrong with either of these.

I am very happy with the R-N803D, I have a set of B & W 200s on it, good sound, I only had an old Marantz on it before.
