The specification states the maximum storage capacity as 16TB. In the meantime, there are hard drives up to 14TB. I operate the device with 2x14TB and it runs perfectly. Why is a max. storage capacity specified here? It doesn't make any sense! The storage capacity is determined by the hard disks that are installed.

Presumably because the manufacturer simply does not track its own specifications. The device came onto the market in mid-2016. At that time, I don't think there were any 14TB hard drives.
