Segway-Ninebot GT3 D
20 km/h, 95 km, 500 W
The product description says that the motor power is 2400W, while the specifications say that the motor power is 500W and that it is approved for roads in Switzerland, so I'm wondering which of these is true? Does the motor have 500W and can be driven in Switzerland, or 2400W and cannot be driven in Switzerland?
500W You use this power for normal riding - e.g. on a flat road, without extreme loads.
2400W The maximum short-term power that the motor can deliver - usually for a few seconds.
This is authorised for Switzerland!
Rated power (500 W)
- This is the continuous power that the motor can deliver without overheating.
- The scooter utilises this 500 W during normal, steady riding - for example on a straight stretch of road or at a moderate speed.
- It is also important for legal authorisation in many countries - in Germany, for example, a maximum of 500 W is permitted.
⸻
Peak power (2400 W)
- This is the short-term maximum power that the motor can deliver, e.g. during heavy acceleration or on inclines.
- This power is usually only available for a few seconds as it places a heavy load on the battery and motor.
- It makes the scooter more powerful, but has an impact on battery life and heat generation.

Comparison using the GT3 D as an example
- When starting off on an incline or in sport mode, the GT3 D briefly calls up the peak power (2400 W) - for more thrust.
- It then automatically drops back to the rated power (500 W) to protect the engine.
