Thank you for the information. My Macbook has USB-A connections. The tape deck has USB-B. But I have a corresponding cable. A mouse with USB-A also works on the Macbook when I connect it to the same port. I don't want to update the Macbook because then some of the programmes I use will no longer work. Also, the manual of the tape deck says that it is only compatible up to and with MacOS High Sierra. I tried to connect the deck to my iMac (operating system Mac OS Big Sur 11.6), but it didn't work either, because the tape was not recognised on the computer either. Am pretty frustrated...
The RCA outs of my TEACS are connected to the analogue audio in of my sound card (Creative-Soundblaster XFi) of the Windows PC and I then record with Audacity.
Macs should also have an analogue audio-in ( https://www.switchingtomac.com/tutorials...), so the connection via cable should be possible.
