So that I understand this correctly: I have a Swisscom modem with corresponding WLAN and I can use this repeater to expand the existing WLAN network without registering with a new or different network?

All I know is that repeaters must also receive signals. Are there no other solutions?

Yes and no. The repeater is synchronised with the existing modem. Then you can log into the "duplicated" WLAN. With the same password. So if you have connected with "Ramon_Home" so far, you would then have to connect with "Ramon_Home-RPT" in the areas of your flat that were not well networked so far. Things like Wifi printers etc. also work with the repeater without a new connection.
