Reviews of the new rtx 5090 FE are out and in special cases it is more than 600W and at the same time other manufacturers will overclock it. How high is the risk that this cable will be overloaded? I would not ask this question if I could already find 600+W cables.
More than 600W will not work with one cable because of the sense cable. If so, the manufacturers would have to produce boards with 2x 600W. But a power target will never go higher than 600W (e.g. at 575 to 104%, 105 would be too much. So only undervolting is probably a topic, whereby in some cases only 2-3% less power is possible even with 10% less current (8auer, Power Target Tweaking, YouTube).
Personally, I have not yet had any experience with overloading this cable, but I think the cable should be able to withstand short-term overloads due to the manufacturer's tolerances.
The question that arises for me is rather whether the power supply can deliver the additional power via the connection.
