Only 16 GB RAm soldered or in slot and can't expand it?
According to the manufacturer's data sheet, the 16 GB are fixed and cannot be expanded, nor are there any other slots.
It is not soldered, it is plugged in. (ASUS ROG Strix G17 G713PI 2023 7945HX 4070)
Be careful when opening the case, the screws have different lengths (remember which was where) and when removing the lid it is best to use a plastic spacer. The LED lighting of the cover is connected to the mainboard with two cables, so be careful when removing the cover, you can leave it on, just be careful.
There's a 16GB 4800 DDR5 RAM in it, which is completely stupid, because then the thing only runs with single channel.
I bought this 32GB kit and installed it:
Crucial Laptop Memory (2 x 16GB, 5600 MHz, DDR5-RAM, SO-DIMM).
It runs at 5200 and with Dual Channel. With 16GB 4800 single channel it does about 33GB/sec read, with 32GB(2x16) 5200 it does 62GB/sec in the Aida64 read throughput benchmark.
