My Surface always crashes, i.e. blue screen, when I connect a hdmi adapter with display via usb c. I have tried various adapters, but no success. According to the internet this is the case with most surface pro. What can be done here, as I am dependent on a hdmi connection?

Is the system software up to date? This first. Then, if so, I would try to use another driver, possibly an older one.
If all hope of a software fix has been abandoned (which seems to be the case according to your internet research), the last and most expensive option is to use a docking station. This is attached to the Surface connector and thus keeps USB-C out of the game.
