The cupboard might amplify the noise. Try putting the NAS on a firm surface like a concrete floor to see if that reduces vibration and noise.

The WD Red Pro are certainly louder than the Red Plus, for example. The Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) in almost every NAS can be used to check whether there is a defect. Otherwise, I would recommend a damping mat or similar and perhaps also check whether "the NAS in the cabinet" is not getting too hot.
