My ASUS X99-A does not recognise this SSD, the specification says: M2 M Key PCIE SSD ONLY.

Hm, SATA M.2 and PCIe M.2. are not the same, I guess you need a PCIe M2 SSD, but this Crucial is SATA. The WD Black would be worth a try. All information without guarantee...
Addendum: Sometimes a BIOS update also helps because new hardware was only supported later.
