I also found this limitation disadvantageous. In everyday life, however, it is hardly a problem by selecting an available step nearby and extending or shortening the time a little.
In addition, the auto function can be used. This does not indicate the power but the type of product to be heated and its weight. The microwave then does everything else itself, optimised for the selected product.

I haven't had any problems yet, the popcorn from Coop will do. It says 650, but it also works with 600 and a few seconds more.
