Yes it works.
I can just say that the opposite didn’t work. I had the Smart Battery Case for iPhone 6 and my then new iPhone 7 did not fit. Too tight, and the camera cutout wasn’t in the right place. Check the Mophie lineup, maybe there’s still something for your 6.
