It seems that the radio reception works well when I read the comments. But before I finally decide to buy it, I would like to know how it works with the phone. Can I access my phone book on my mobile phone and dial it, or do I have the option to type in and dial unsaved numbers via the Alpine EZI-DAB-BT? Thank you for your tips.

Helpful answer

when connected to a mobile phone, the entire phone book is accessible, including last dialled numbers. A new number cannot be dialled via Alpine EZI.

First of all: The hands-free phone is absolutely top-notch! Many newer cars (without start-stop) briefly interrupt the power supply at the socket when the engine is started, which leads to a restart of the device, until the Bluetooth connection is re-established it takes some time, but this is not a fault of the product. If necessary, talk to your garage or the car electrician - it is much nicer anyway when the cable is not hanging around openly - rough drivers or passengers do not interrupt music or telephone conversations any more.

As it was said in the previous answer, access to the phone book by browsing, but also the call history (outgoing, incoming, missed calls) is possible. Both here and on the DAB side: if the lists are long, you spend some time turning. For DAB, you can put favourite stations in a memory list. For telephoning and some other information, it is advisable to connect via the Pure Go app - then Apple's Siri, Google Assistant or other manufacturer-specific assistants can be addressed directly at the touch of a button.

Perhaps another important point: the device is much more fun when the audio connection is connected to the existing radio via an AUX connection. Where none is available - many audio systems have connections for CD changers which are not used. There are nice little interfaces with which you can also make a direct audio connection - but this must fit your car or radio. Here, too, the nice car electrician or the garage will help if you are not a hardcore car enthusiast.

I have been using the device for a few months now. The reception and sound are top. There is nothing to criticise. Telephoning is also good. Only the handling takes some getting used to.
1. dialling a number is tedious and unwieldy. It's best to dial the number via mobile phone when the car is stationary, of course.
2. only the number is displayed for incoming calls and not the name for saved contacts.
3. station change only possible with rotary knob. Danger of distraction while driving.
Of course, one must bear in mind that the device is small and therefore does not offer the comfort of larger devices. If you spend more money, you get more. But otherwise, this device is quite ok.
