Is this compatible with b450 gaming plus max motherboard?

Yes, it is. I'm pretty sure this is a 1st gen Ryzen CPU from 2017 (which came before B450 chipset) and not 3rd gen. B450 is compatible with 2nd gen and 3rd gen aswell. If you are buying the motherboard now, maybe it's compatible out of the box with 3rd gen CPUs (check the msi website). Otherwise, you need to update the BIOS.
