Is the WD100EFAX - explicit a SMR technology plate or PMR plate? WD itself has said ">8TB are CMR = PMR", but the letter 'A' clearly indicates SMR technology. The cache of 256MB is just another indication, but (alone) no proof! Thanks for reliable information p.s. Yes, I bought this WD100EFAX for my Synology NAS!
WD will hardly lie now that they have realised how serious this issue is for customers.
