Is the unit ready to use as it is, or does it still need batteries, adapters, tapes, etc.?

Batteries and a first (shorter) tape to test are included.
As mentioned above, the unit is delivered with batteries and test tape ready for use. However, I recommend ordering a few tapes of the width you need most. I can't say anything about the battery life yet, but if you don't use it every day, a power supply is hardly necessary. However, I recommend reading the instruction manual and keeping it handy, especially at the beginning, because there are many useful functions. I would buy the device again at any time.
