Is the mainboard compatible with m.2 SSDs (in the 1st slot by the GPU) that have their own heat sink? And if compatible, does an m.2 with heatsink offer any added value compared to an m.2 without heatsink, as I understand that the motherboard already has a heatsink block above the m.2 slot?

The "X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE" motherboard from Gigabyte is compatible with M.2 SSDs, including those with their own heat sinks.
### Compatibility
- The motherboard has 4 M.2 slots, one of which can be close to the GPU positioning. These slots are equipped with the M.2 Thermal Guard, which enables better cooling of the M.2 SSDs.
### Added value through own heat sink
- Although the motherboard already has a heatsink block above the M.2 slot, an M.2 SSD with its own heatsink can provide additional cooling added value. This is particularly useful when the SSD is operating under high load or in a warm ambient temperature range. The additional heatsink can further reduce the temperature of the SSD, improving its performance and lifespan.
Overall, it is therefore possible and potentially advantageous to use an M.2 SSD with its own heat sink on this mainboard.
