Is the image quality also good on a rough wall or is a smooth wall / screen required?

In principle, I would always recommend a screen for all types of beamers. Even relatively smooth walls can be disturbing. With a short-distance projector, I would definitely use a CLR screen: https://www.digitec.ch/search
