Is the battery life really that bad? My older, stolen Spectre had great battery life and could last all day without any problems. What I've read about this model is that the battery lasts around 4.5 hours with a "normal" workload. What kind of experiences have you had? In our lecture rooms, power outlets are a bit scarce. That's why it should last 8 hours.
My HP Spectre holds up. I partly worked outside on the terrace and therefore adjusted the screen brightness accordingly. Nevertheless, I was able to run the device for a good 8 hours without connecting it to the power supply. Ok, once with a break, I simply closed the lid and resumed work. My verdict for battery life and screen = meets my expectations and beats all previous devices (Lenovo Yoga Pro).
8 hours of reading and writing is no problem. 8 hours of watching videos might be. I really don't see a problem for university.
I can confirm the battery life of around 4.5h.
I have had my NB for about 6 months now and am quite happy with the battery life. However, I have to admit that I switch off wifi and other power-hungry devices when I work in battery mode. It still only gets to 8H (if at all) by a very narrow margin. Maybe not the best device for you if you absolutely need 8 hours of battery life.
